Private sector universities in Pakistan are those universities those do not get their major funding from the government of Pakistan. In early 1980s, many private institutes were established in Pakistan but just 2 private institutes were recognized by HEC until 1991; one of them is Aga Khan University which was established in 1983 and 2nd one was Lahore University of Management Sciences was established in 1985.
