Army Medical College (also known as AM College) is a residential military institute that was founded in 1977 to provide undergraduate medical education to selected cadets. Students who do not desire to join the Pakistan Army can instead enter as civilians at the college. The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council have recognized AMC’s degree (PMDC).

Army Medical College was founded in 1977 as a residential institution for selected cadets to receive undergraduate medical education. Since 1998, the College has been associated with the National University of Medical Sciences (NUMS), which was previously linked with the Quaid-e-Azam University.

In 1981, the first batch of 100 students graduated from the MBBS programme, and the college was accredited by the General Medical Council of the United Kingdom. In 1998, it became a constituent college of NUST. The Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) programme began in the same year. Since 2001, the college has been providing postgraduate instruction in basic medical sciences (MPhil/PhD and FCPS).

Students are admitted to Army Medical College in one of two ways: either the Medical Cadet Course or through the NUMS admission exam. NUMS places are reserved for civilians, while medical cadets are the only ones who can join the Pakistan Army. Like other medical colleges in Pakistan, foreign candidates can apply based on the results of the SAT Subject Tests instead of the NUMS test.
